The contemporary design boasts a simple prayerful atmosphere. Handcrafted stained-glass is spread throughout the church overlooking the central altar that can be seen from all angles. The 50 year-old structure embodies the faith brought by Blessed Diego and his companion martyr Blessed Pedro Calungsod in 1669. Named after “The Sweet Name of Mary” (Dulce Nombre de Maria), the house of religious splendor is also home to Santa Marian Kamalen, patroness of Guam and the Marianas. Your visit to the Cathedral-Basilica is most welcomed! Si Yu’us Ma’ase for being a part of us. |

The Light is ON!

The "Light is ON!" is a two-part parish initiative which invites you to reconnect with your Catholic faith through the Sacrament of Reconciliation during the Season of Lent.
The first part is that Archbishop Anthony Sablan Apuron and the priests of the Cathedral-Basilica will be able to hear your confessions at least 30 minutes before each Mass. A blue light will be TURNED ON in the Blessed Sacrament or St. Therese Chapels to signify that the Archbishop or a priest is ready to hear your confession and spend time with you in prayer.
The second part is when the bright tower lights are TURNED ON for you. Each Friday from 9:00 p.m. until Midnight, there will be an Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament so that you can spend time in the physical presence of Christ in the Eucharist. In addition, the Archbishop or a priest will also be available to hear your confession or to speak with you and guide you on various issues you may be facing in life.
Lent is an important time for you to reflect on where your life journey has been. This initiative highlights the importance of the sacrament of confession in the life of Catholics and to make it as easy as possible for every Catholic to come or to return to this great source of God's mercy and healing love.
This Lent, "The Light is ON!" for you. Read more about the opportunities for you to see and experience the One True Light, Our Savior Jesus Christ.

Happy World Marriage Day!

February 14 gives all couples in the Catholic Church double reasons to celebrate as World Marriage Day coincides with Valentine's Day. Throughout the world, but partic
ularly at the Cathedral-Basilica, World Marriage Day is a day of celebrating and honoring all married couples from our parish. It's also a time to reflect on the journeys husbands and wives have shared in committing themselves to each other, raising their children, building their families, and ultimately giving praise to God for the gifts He blesses in each and every marriage.
On this special day, we wish all married couples the best! May God Bless you and your families with fruitful love and abundant graces. Happy World Marriage Day!

The Dulce Nombre de Maria Cathedral-Basilica stands in the capital of Hagatña and serves as the Mother Church for the Archdiocese of Agaña. As a “model church” for parishes and faith communities, it is where the Archbishop celebrates the Catholic Church’s most sacred liturgies with clergy, religious and the lay community.
