The Sacrament of Reconciliation

"Those who approach the sacrament of Penance obtain pardon from God's mercy for the offense committed against him, and are, at the same time, reconciled with the Church which they have wounded by their sins and which by charity, by example, and by prayer labors for their conversion."

Taken from the Catechism of the Catholic Church: 1422

Confessions at the Cathedral-Basilica

Catholics are encouraged to participate in the Sacrament of Reconciliation, also known as Confession or Penance, on a regular basis. Individuals wishing to go to Confession can arrive at least 15 minutes before each Mass to meet with a Priest.

The Cathedral-Basilica also offers two parish-wide confessions each year, one during the Advent Season and the other during the Lenten Season.

Receiving the Sacrament of Reconciliation for the firs time?

Parishioners who are receiving the sacrament for the first time are asked to attend Faith Formation classes administered by the parish. Parents with children in the 2nd grade are also encouraged to have their child enrolled in the Faith Formation program to begin preparing for the sacrament. You can register for classes by completing and submitting the Religious Education Form | Download form here.

Please contact the parish’s Faith Formation Director at 472.6201 for more information.
