The Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick

"By the sacred anointing of the sick and the prayer of the priests the whole Church commends those who are ill to the suffering and glorified Lord, that he may raise them up and save them. And indeed she exhorts them to contribute to the good of the People of God by freely uniting themselves to the Passion and death of Christ."

Pastoral Care for our elderly and those who are ill…


The Priests of the Cathedral-Basilica constantly care for our aged and ill parishioners and their families. Every opportunity to pray and bless those who are infirmed is a reminder of God’s grace in our lives.

If you have a family member or friend who is elderly or ill, always know that a Priest will be grateful to administer the Church’s Sacrament of Anointing the Sick.
You are also encouraged to enlist the names of those who are sick (Pro Infomorium) in the parish’s Mass Intentions so that, as a community of faith, the church will pray for the particular needs of the elderly and sick.
